Reflection Part Two

(Photo: Pinterest)

So I created this long list that I planned on sharing that consisted of all of my 2013 resolutions.  I planned on sharing the list but along the way I experienced a bump in the road.  Actually, to be more exact, a major pothole!  My mom had to have heart surgery and since her surgery I've been lost in my thoughts.  Do I spend a lot of time with her? ... And let's stop there because the rest of my thoughts are pretty personal.

Truth is many resolutions that are made suck! :) Ohhhh how good it feels to be blunt!  Most resolutions that we make really don't matter.  Well at least mine anyway. What matters in life is the people in your life.  I've come to realize that people don't see their parents as much as they should. Or the time together is not valued as much as it should be.  I can recall many times I have said goodbye to my mom, gave her a quick hug, and then I'm on my way.

So instead of my long 2013 list, I'm going with what is truly important.  My new resolution is to spend more time with my parents.  Especially my mom who lives alone.  Today I stopped by and gave her a kiss on her cheek before I left and told her I loved her.   I made plans with her tomorrow to take her shopping after work, and she is coming over on Sunday because my husband wants to cook for her.

Look at my post from last year and read number 28.

So far, I think I'm off to a pretty good start....

  1. I almost broke into to tears. Life can be so unfair because of situations like these. Actually no, life is unfair period! Having a strong support system makes all the difference. All you can do now is be there for your mom and your entire family. I'm guilty of not participating in families activities and now I feel like I need to re-think my priorities. Just know your mom loves you unconditionally!!! You are a wonderful human being and a superb daughter (you are also the bestest friend I have). I also know bested is not a word - sorry. ;-)Life is short - no more holding back. I'm hear for you always! Love you! I think you should make your blog public rather than having only a few people read it. You are talented and the world needs to see that! xo

    1. After re-reading my post I feel that it's necessary for me to call out my typos. Hear should be here. Bestest is not a word. Bested is a misspelled word that's not even a word. ;-)Hope this post made you smile.

  2. I agree with Ann, life is unfair and bad things happen to good people. Unfortunately I've come to understand this through Andrews family. What I have learned is that life is short and it is full of unexpected things. As cheesy as it sounds we must cherish every moment, say I love you more often, and surround yourself around good people. You are going through something extremely tough, but you have family and friends that are there for you. Now is the time to be with them. You are a wonderful daughter, loving mother and thoughtful friend. My thoughts and prayers are always with you, please know that im here if you need ANYTHING! xoxo

  3. Life will always have its ups and downs. It is important to keep your head up and know that things will get better with time and positive people on your side. There is not one single person in this world (good or bad) that does not face challenges everyday. It's how you handle the challenges that you are given that makes you YOU. You are a very strong person and your Mom is amazing. She deserves nothing but happiness and she is lucky to have such wonderful daughters who are focusing on her happiness. If you look at my yearbook picture from senior year there is quote that is next to my pic. I loved it back then and still love it to this day....Today and the tomorrow you worried about yesterday..was it worth it. This quote is very powerful to me and it reminds me to live everyday as happy as I can possibly be. My girls, Rich, and the little things I get to do with them (like a family dinner) are the most important things in this world. No need for resolutions when you try to live everyday to be a good, positive person.
