I am sitting on a park bench, writing and this is my view. A view of nature...an utter feeling of peace from within. This is the first time I have ever done something like this. I typically don't like to go certain places by myself, and at times I can easily label myself somewhat of an introvert. Too shy to do anything like this solo. Always caring what others are thinking which can quite possibly be my biggest flaw.
As I walked around taking pictures, I quickly learned that everyone has the same agenda prior to walking into the park--and that is to relax. As I look around, people are exercising, spending time with their children, a loved one, or walking their dogs. My personal favorite? People are here to breathe in the fresh air, unwind, and to relieve stress. That's why I am here!
I had somewhat of a "meltdown" yesterday because I am worried. Worried about a very close family member and worried about what others are going through that are close to me. I have friendships that I need to invest more time in, and sadly, one that is fading.

See the scarecrow?
A trip to the park completely clears your mind and you will leave feeling calm and filled with peace. Doctors should write a "you need a trip to the park" prescription to make individuals feel better!!
Thank you Oz Park for giving me the courage (hello Cowardly Lion) to write on a park bench and take pictures without anyone by my side. Time to go home (shout out to Dorothy) and see my son's smile that melts my heart (quick reference to the Tin Man).
:)
So happy you found peace there. Even for a bit. That's why it's important to find time for you often...because life is tough and it throws curve balls and we need to balance again.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you are going through so much. Love you tons. xoxo
Love your literary references, how clever! Life is definitely unpredictable, as I have certainly found it to be. Surround yourself with those you love and take time to do the things you enjoy. There will be a rainbow after the storm. Your positivity is infectous. Cant wait to see you (and Jake) (and TK) on Sunday! Time for friends can also be a great prescription! =)
ReplyDeleteBetty I've been meaning to comment since I read this a few days ago. I love you too...you are such a great friend and having a place to decompress is absolutely mandatory for everyone these days! XOXO
ReplyDeleteJoanna that's why I am always wanting to see you whenever I can! Love you much!!
ReplyDeleteHeather, you are always reading my mind! Last Sunday, we went to Cantigny Park out in Winfield. It was GORGEOUS with all the changing colors and so peaceful! They also have a really cool museum. I was thinking of you the whole time and how much you would love it there with the history and the beautiful gardens. Made me realize how much I miss you! Everyone has so much going on, whether it be just a busy schedule or rough waters in life in general. But always know that what is meant to be will be, fight for what's worth fighting for and most important...learn to give yourself a break once in awhile. That's exactly what you did on this trip and it stinks that life doesn't always let us do that as often as we need it! xoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to check out Cantigny Park for so long! I heard it's absolutely breathtaking! I didn't know about the museum?!! Sounds like a must next summer. I know life is so busy and I miss you too!! True statement about what is meant to be will be and fight what is worth fighting for. Love both of those! Miss you and thanks for the wonderful comment!!
